Is Anna University genuine?
Data last verified:
What the records show
A college is genuine when the regulator for its courses has approved it and the approval is current. Yes: Anna University is listed in official records and holds a current approval. Anna University holds AICTE approval and UGC approval. Its NAAC grade is Grade A++, valid to August 20, 2028. In NIRF it ranks #13.
Not on the UGC fake-university list. The UGC publishes a list of self-styled, unrecognised universities; a college on that list cannot award a valid degree. We check every college against the latest list on each data refresh.
Official identifiers (AISHE U-0439, AICTE 1-44638177879, UGC 193) are the codes the regulators use for this college; you can search them on the regulator's own portal to confirm the record. Before paying any fee, ask the college for its approval letter for the current year and match the course and intake on it with what you were offered.

How do I verify a college myself?
Search the official identifiers on the regulator's portal (AICTE, UGC, NMC, PCI or the state authority for the course), ask the college for its current approval letter, and check the fee notice against the state fee authority's order. Never pay before the approval for your course and year is in hand.
